Taft High School News

For the first time since 2021, the Taft Senators are CMAC Champions — and they did it in historic fashion. With a commanding 47-0 victory over Woodward, Taft completed a perfect 10-0 regular season, marking the first undefeated campaign in program history. The numbers tell the story of pure dominance. The Senators outscored their CMAC opponents by a staggering 230-0, pitching shutouts in every league matchup. Even more impressive, over their final seven games, Taft didn’t allow a single point — outscoring opponents 350-0 in that stretch. Overall, they closed the regular season with a total scoring margin of 476-34, showcasing one of the most complete teams in Ohio high school football this fall. Head Coach Tyler Williams and his staff have built a culture defined by discipline, pride, and relentless effort — and this year’s squad has embodied that at every level. From the explosive offense to a defense that’s been nothing short of impenetrable, Taft has proven itself as one of the premier programs in the region. But as the players and coaches celebrated their CMAC crown, the message was clear: they’re not done yet. The “revenge tour” continues as Taft sets its sights on the OHSAA playoffs. Next up, the Senators will host Round 2 of the playoffs on Friday, November 7th at Stargel Stadium. The opponent is still to be determined, but one thing is certain — Taft is locked in, hungry, and ready to keep making history. CMAC Champs. Undefeated. Unfinished Business....

Clark Montessori High School News

The Clark Montessori Cougars will take on the Cincinnati Country Day Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Clark Montessori is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 36-0 win over Norwood. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their five-game losing streak. Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Cincinnati Country Day against North College Hill on Friday as the team secured a 46-14 win. Considering the Nighthawks have won six contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new. A big part of Cincinnati Country Day's victory came down to the chemistry between Levi Guttman and his top target Thomas Huckleby. Guttman threw for 215 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 91.7% of his passes while Huckleby gained 129 total yards. Cincinnati Country Day didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North College Hill to a completion percentage of just 42.9%. The last time the Nighthawks' completion percentage was this high was back in November of 2024. Cincinnati Country Day didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Huckleby, Leon Hall Jr, and Nathan Kellenberger picked up one apiece. Clark Montessori's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Cincinnati Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1. Clark Montessori was taken down by Cincinnati Country Day 44-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? ...

Walnut Hills High School News

Walnut Hills High School is proud to celebrate two of its own — Missy Mink (Goedde, Class of 1986) and longtime coach Fred Tudor — on their induction into the Cincinnati Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The ceremony, held on October 16 at TQL Stadium, honored 14 standout athletes and coaches from across CPS history. Both Mink and Tudor represent decades of Eagle excellence, leadership, and commitment to student-athletes. Missy Mink (Goedde) — Class of 1986 A three-sport standout during her time at Walnut Hills, Missy Mink earned an impressive 10 varsity letters across soccer (3), basketball (4), and softball (3). Despite an ACL injury that sidelined her for part of her sophomore and junior seasons, her determination and leadership never wavered. Mink was a varsity starter each season and served as co-captain of all three teams during her junior and senior years. In her senior year, she was recognized as Buddy LaRosa’s Athlete of the Week for her excellence across multiple sports. Soccer Team MVP as a senior Three-time All-Conference honoree All-City and All-Southwest Ohio recognition in two seasons Basketball Four-time Team MVP Averaged 12, 15, 23.4, and 19.5 points per game during her four seasons Led the city in scoring as a junior (23.4 ppg) and in free-throw percentage (87%) Three-time All-Conference and All-City selection Earned All-Southwest Ohio and All-State honors as a junior and senior Set school records with 1,261 career points and a single-game high of 37 points Softball Team MVP in both junior and senior years All-Conference and All-City honoree Mink’s athletic success earned her scholarship offers in both soccer and basketball, ultimately accepting a full basketball scholarship to Wright State University. There, she was named Team MVP, led the team in scoring as a junior, and was selected to Fast-Break Magazine’s All-American Team. After earning a degree in Financial Services, Missy built a successful career as a Senior Financial Administrator at the University of Cincinnati. A proud mother of four, she has raised two daughters and two sons, each successful athletes in their own right, and now resides in Anderson Township. Coach Fred Tudor — Class of 1975 Coach Fred Tudor has built a remarkable legacy in Cincinnati athletics, dedicating more than four decades to shaping student-athletes through football, basketball, and cross country. A 1975 Walnut Hills graduate, Tudor lettered in baseball, basketball, and football, serving as captain of both football and basketball during his senior year while quarterbacking under the legendary Coach Williard Stargell. After graduating, Tudor returned to Walnut Hills as a teacher and assistant coach in both football and basketball. Over the next decade, the Eagles captured league titles in the PHSL and Cross County Conference, solidifying Walnut Hills’ reputation as a powerhouse both academically and athletically. As co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach in 1986, Tudor helped lead the football team to a stellar season, allowing just 54 points over 10 games. All four of his defensive backs earned Division I scholarships, with Darren Anderson becoming the first of five of his players to reach the NFL. In basketball, Tudor helped guide the 1987 Eagles to a memorable district final upset over city champion Woodward, advancing to a double-overtime battle in the Sweet Sixteen. Tudor later served as head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Wyoming High School, leading his teams to an 85% win rate (61–11) from 1991–1995, earning Coach of the Year honors twice and recognition from both the Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati Post. He returned to CPS in 1996 as head basketball coach at Hughes High School, where he led the Big Red to back-to-back sectional finals before transitioning to coach his sons, Fred III and Andrew, at Wyoming. In 2013, Tudor came full circle—returning to his alma mater, Walnut Hills, as associate head basketball coach and defensive backs coach. That year, the Eagles achieved a national top-25 ranking and their first Final Four appearance, marking the pinnacle of Tudor’s 45-year career in teaching and coaching. He continues to serve Walnut Hills today as Dean of Discipline, mentoring students and athletes with the same passion and purpose that have defined his life’s work. “Missy Mink and Fred Tudor embody everything we value at Walnut Hills—excellence, integrity, and pride—as we continue to Rise to the Highest,” said Shay Steele, Walnut Hills Athletic Director. “Their impact continues to resonate through our programs today, and we’re thrilled to see them recognized among CPS’s all-time greats.” The CPS Athletic Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made lasting contributions to athletics and their communities, preserving the rich history and tradition of excellence within Cincinnati Public Schools. Congratulations to Missy Mink and Coach Fred Tudor on this well-deserved recognition. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! ...
